We built a modern website for Split Basketball League, centralizing over a decade of match data and player stats through automated data transformation. The platform now serves as a complete hub for standings, results, and analytics, with SEO and tracking tools integrated for continued growth. With strategic use of Social media channels we achieved greater visibilty within the community.
Introduction
Split Basketball League, a competition with a long-standing tradition, needed a new website that would serve as a central hub for all league information. The goal was to create a modern and responsive platform where players, fans, and sponsors could easily access standings, match results, player statistics, and historical data all in one place.
Second goal was to utilize Social media platforms to achieve greater reach and to gain more visibility within the community through the interactive content.
The Challenge
The league’s rich history came with a major challenge. With more than 1,000 matches and 650 players across multiple seasons, the data existed in different formats and inconsistent files.
We needed to extract, clean, and import this historical information into a unified system. Each season had been recorded slightly differently, which required careful planning and custom solutions. Additionally, the league wanted a way to track visitor engagement and measure sponsor visibility through reliable analytics.
Our Approach
We began by defining which information should be visible on the website and how to structure it for the best user experience.
The most demanding part of the project was data extraction and transformation. Using Apps Script, we reorganized and standardized data from old Excel files spanning more than a decade. Once formatted, the data was imported into the new website so that every match and player statistic could be accurately displayed.
After completing the data integration, we focused on design, performance, and search visibility. Programmatic SEO features were added, such as automated player descriptions, team pages, and event schema markup to strengthen the site’s presence in search results.
To monitor performance, we implemented Google Tag Manager and connected it with Google Analytics 4, providing insights into user behavior, page engagement, and sponsor exposure.
After building functional website we focused on Social Media strategy and execution. We developed strategy to continuously engage with the community and display relevant information.
The Results
Split Basketball League now has a modern and fully functional website that highlights its history and delivers a seamless experience for visitors. The platform brings together game results, player profiles, and team statistics, supported by a strong data foundation that enables ongoing improvement.
With accurate analytics and a professional online presence, the league is now better equipped to engage its community, showcase its heritage, and expand its reach.
Strategic use of social media channels significantly increased visibility, achieving over 300,000 combined monthly views across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and the website.
